The Heart of My Art:
Jackie Reynolds Artist
From Petals to Paint
My journey with colour started long before I picked up a paintbrush. Having spent years as a florist, I lived and breathed the textures, scents, and the soft, dancing shapes of the garden. Today, I’ve simply traded the florists scissors for a canvas and brush, translating that lifelong love for blooms into vibrant, floral abstracts that pulse with energy, warmth and joy.
A Journey Back to the Garden
For me, painting is a way of stepping back into the gardens of my childhood. I remember the feeling of being small enough to disappear among the flowerbeds where every leaf and bloom felt like a discovery and the world was full of quiet, natural wonder. My work is an invitation to revisit those moments—the long, sun-drenched afternoons spent exploring the garden and the simple, breathless joy of blowing bubbles into a summer breeze.
Those signature "fairy rings" and floating bubbles you see in my paintings are bits of "bottled nostalgia." They aren't just shapes; they represent that magical sense of possibility we felt as children. I paint them to remind us all that the world still holds that same wonder, if we only take a second to look for it.
Why I Do What I Do
The most wonderful thing I hear from people who collect my work is that my paintings make their homes feel "happy" and "calm." That is the greatest compliment I could receive. I use intuitive layers of acrylics, inks, and oil pastels to create a sense of warmth and sanctuary on the canvas.
I like to think of my art as a "visual deep breath." I want it to be that bright spot in your room that catches the light and reminds you of a cherished memory, bringing a sense of peace to your space no matter what the day brings.
My Promise to You
Every piece I create is fuelled by a genuine sense of joy. When you bring one of my paintings into your home, you aren’t just buying a canvas; you’re inviting in a bit of intentional happiness, a splash of colour, and a permanent reminder to find beauty in the everyday.
